2025 Open Championship Returns to Royal Portrush — And Fairway Freight Goes Global

The 2025 Open Championship: A Historic Return to Northern Ireland
The 153rd Open Championship heads back to Royal Portrush Golf Club from July 17-20, 2025, promising world-class competition and a major economic and cultural impact for Northern Ireland. This marks only the third time The Open is hosted on Irish soil and follows the wildly successful 2019 edition.
Royal Portrush, perched dramatically on the coast of County Antrim, will again welcome the game’s greatest players — and the global golf community — to one of the most scenic and storied venues in championship golf.
The Venue: Royal Portrush Golf Club
A Links Legend
Royal Portrush’s Dunluce Links will challenge the field with dramatic elevation changes, punishing rough, and iconic holes like Calamity Corner. Redesigned in 2016 to accommodate The Open, it now stretches over 7,300 yards and remains one of the toughest and most photogenic tests in links golf.
Past Glory: The 2019 Open
When Shane Lowry triumphed in 2019 at Portrush, it sparked a celebration across Ireland. The event welcomed over 237,000 spectators and delivered an estimated £106 million in economic benefit to the region. Expectations are even higher this time.
Irish Stars in the Spotlight
All eyes will be on Irish legends Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, and Shane Lowry, along with global favorites like Scottie Scheffler, Jon Rahm, and Xander Schauffele. With its wild winds and unpredictable weather, Portrush offers a level playing field for bold shotmakers.
Golf Travel is Booming — But Club Shipping Still Sucks
H3 Airlines vs. Convenience
Golfers traveling to The Open know the struggle:
- Oversized baggage fees (up to $150 each way)
- Risk of lost or damaged clubs
- Long airport lines and carousel anxiety
That’s why more golfers are turning to golf club shipping services to send their bags ahead to events, hotels, and resorts.
Enter Fairway Freight
Fairway Freight ( shipmyclubs.com) was born to fix the frustration. We handle door-to-door golf bag shipping with flat-rate pricing, live tracking, and white-glove support. No waiting at baggage claim. No stressing over airline policies. Just show up and play.
In just months since launch, golfers across the U.S. have made the switch to Fairway Freight — and we’re not stopping there.
Fairway Freight to Launch Global Shipping by Late 2025
As the world watches Portrush this July, we’re working behind the scenes to take Fairway Freight international.

Logistics That Work for Golfers
We’re not trying to be FedEx. We’re building a system designed for golfers:
- Bag-friendly pickup windows
- Customizable travel profiles
- Concierge support
- Group/team shipment discounts
Royal Portrush Will Be Our Proof Point
What better way to showcase our global capability than around one of the biggest events in golf? We’ll be:
- Coordinating test shipments from U.S. cities to Portrush-area lodging
- Partnering with Irish resorts and travel operators
- Creating custom club delivery for media and influencers on site
By the time The Open ends, we’ll have proved what Fairway Freight can do on a global stage.
Join the Movement: Ship Smarter, Play More
Fairway Freight is more than a shipping service. It’s a commitment to freeing golfers from baggage claim, one trip at a time.
We believe international golf travel should be seamless, and club logistics shouldn’t get in the way of the game.
